Ever since I was a kid, I was overweight. There was this one time in gym class where my P.E. teacher told everyone to form a pyramid. After it had formed, I was the last one left. He said, “Alright, Romanowski is on top.” The pyramid collapsed, and everyone laughed.
There are many reasons why people are overweight. Some of its genes, laziness, or stress. I grew up in the “Clean Plate Club” where everything had to be finished on your plate or else. I didn’t know any better, but now I do.
For years I’ve been criticized, made fun of, and called names I’d rather not say again. Who knows, maybe those people had hang-ups of their own, but their insecurity was such that they needed to take it out on me. Whatever the reason, I’m not making excuses anymore.
I’ve decided to start the #FitByFirst challenge. It’s 31 days of working out and healthy eating. Not dieting. My lifestyle needs a change. For my family, for my music, for my peace of mind. I know I’m not perfect, and it will be a struggle, but I’m going to work my ass off.
